EasySpeechToText Terms of Service

Last updated: March 23, 2026

These terms govern your use of EasySpeechToText, a desktop speech-to-text application developed by Christopher Kvamme ("developer") and distributed through the Microsoft Store. By installing or using the application, you agree to these terms.

License

EasySpeechToText is licensed, not sold. When you purchase a Pro license, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the application on any Windows devices where you are signed in with the same Microsoft account used for the purchase.

"Lifetime license" means you receive all future updates to EasySpeechToText at no additional cost for the lifetime of the product. This includes new features, model updates, and bug fixes delivered through the Microsoft Store.

Free Tier and Pro Trial

EasySpeechToText offers a free tier with limited features and a 14-day Pro trial that provides full access to all Pro features. The trial starts when you activate it and expires automatically after 14 days, at which point the application reverts to the free tier. No payment information is required to start a trial.

Pricing

The Pro license is available as a one-time purchase through the Microsoft Store. Prices may change at any time. Founder pricing and promotional pricing are available for limited periods as stated in the application. Once you purchase a license at a given price, that purchase is final regardless of future price changes.

Purchases and Refunds

All purchases are processed by the Microsoft Store. Refund requests are handled by Microsoft according to their refund policy. The developer does not process payments or issue refunds directly.

Acceptable Use

You may not:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the application or your license
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices in the application
  • Use the application for any unlawful purpose

Transcription Accuracy

EasySpeechToText uses open-source speech recognition models (OpenAI Whisper) running locally on your device. Transcription accuracy depends on factors including audio quality, microphone hardware, background noise, accent, and the model size selected. The developer does not guarantee any specific level of transcription accuracy. Do not rely on the application for critical, legal, or medical transcription without manual review.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The application is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill, arising from your use of the application. In no event shall the developer's total liability exceed the amount you paid for the application.

Updates and Modifications

The developer may release updates that add, modify, or remove features. Updates are delivered through the Microsoft Store. Continued use of the application after an update constitutes acceptance of any changes.

Termination

Your license continues indefinitely as long as you comply with these terms. The developer may terminate your license if you violate these terms. Upon termination, you must stop using and uninstall the application.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
